French Limoges Flambeau China LDBCo 12" Hand Painted Decorative Fish Plate

$215.00

This hand painted plate is stamped on the reverse with the Flambeau China and LDBCo marks which place the plate between the years 1890 and 1914 and depicts a salmon swimming. The colors are vibrant and artist has rendered the scene beautifully.

After some research, I have concluded that Flambeau China was either the name of the French LDBCo subsidiary or a mere trademark used by LDBCo which was an exporter.

The artist’s signature is visible on the front of the plate.

This is a highly sophisticated representation of the fish and seaweed under water.

The scroll shaped rim is edged in gold with some wear apparent and consistent with its age and usage. There is a hole provided to run a wire through in order to hang the plate if desired.

The condition is indicative of its age and with the exception of some wearing off of gold along the edge, there are no cracks. There is one flake chip on the back side bottom of the plate and not seen from the front. I would put its condition at very good.

Sold as is. All sales are final.

Dimensions: 12” diameter by 1.625” deep
